Front Porch Progress

Serena and Lily Pacifica Sectional

I’ve made some progress on our front porch, and since Serena & Lily is having their Friends and Family Sale, I figured it was time to share the space thus far. Also, right now is actually the best time to purchase outdoor furniture since retailers are clearing inventory for next year but there is still plenty of time to enjoy some porch hangin’, especially if you live somewhere like the East Coast where we have a long Indian Summer.    Serena and Lily Pacifica SectionalSerena and Lily Pacifica SectionalBrass Anchor Door KnockerSerena and Lily Pacifica Sectional

One of the main reasons we bought our house was because we loved the view of the harbor, and since the front porch overlooks it, I wanted to create a true outdoor living space that would feel like the inside of our home. It was also important to me that the space was inviting, since it’s the front of our house where guests often enter the house. Thanks to the outdoor curtains, spending time here feels like a vacation even if it’s just an hour of chill with my husband on a Saturday afternoon during the boys’ nap. I hung them using an outdoor tension rod in brackets so they won’t budge until I want them to and I can easily take them down for cleaning (which they haven’t needed yet) and for winter storage (tear). The sectional, which was a result of a very long search, is so comfortable and durable. To be honest, I wish I could have ordered the white cushions, but the reality is they wouldn’t stay white with my dog, two boys, and my own clumsiness / coffee / wine drinking.

Serena and Lily Double Hanging Rattan ChairI have to say that one of the best things I put in our home is the porch swing. Not only is it beautiful, but everyone loves sitting in it, especially our boys, and my entire family of four + the dog all fit comfortably together. When Luke was a newborn and fussing, a snuggle in the swing would calm him right down if Milkbags McGee was MIA. I love that since we hung it using S hooks, we can take it down for the winter (sobbing) and store it inside. It’s practical, guys.

Instead of buying a coffee table I opted for a pair of these rattan stools. They gorgeous and holding up good as new against the elements, plus they double as foot rests and cocktail tables and they don’t take up much space.

I had actually bought the rug for a different area of the house and thought it was too small for the porch, but I am kind of digging it and thinking that a larger rug would just be a pain to clean and store for the off-season. This one is a good size, but I can toss it into the washer if needed and I don’t have to move all of the furniture to do so.

I hope you love the front porch progress as much as I do. We are currently enjoying it as much as possible before it’s too late. Next year, we will probably re-paint the floor and add more plants, ceiling fans, and I am also thinking of a bench like this one for the naked side. Lend me your thoughts. If I have any down time this weekend, this is where I’ll be.

Happy weekend loves!

How has Serena and Lily the double swing chair held up outside? I know they say it’s not “outdoor” but the only “outdoor” swing they sell is a Single and we want a double.

Ours would be on the end of the porch so it may get wet more often than yours.

    Thanks!

Hi Trey! Hope you and yours are staying safe and healthy. Mine held up very well under my covered porch. It did get wet and the rattan took on a weathered look, but it’s very sturdy and we used it a ton. I left it to the buyers of the house as a gift, and I miss it so much. If you’re concerned it will get too beaten up, you could always hang it with S hooks and take it down during the off season. We didn’t, and it was fine. Thank you for reading!

Thank you. I wonder: how has the Pacifica held up since you bought it?
