One of the first things to bother me about pregnancy was the number of people who told me I wouldn’t care about my dog anymore, or that she would no longer be a priority in my life. The first thing I searched when I found out I was pregnant was “how to introduce your dog to your newborn.” The day I brought Bella June home with me over six years ago, is the day I first became a mother. Even though I am having a human baby in just a couple of weeks, I will consider myself a mother of two. In fact, I look forward to mothering along with Bella. When I think about snuggling my son, feeding him, taking him on strolls through The Village, I imagine doing all of it with my furry best friend by my side. I know I have enough love to go around. If I didn’t know this, I wouldn’t be adding to my family.
