Today marks the 10 year anniversary of Mean Girls, the movie I must watch when I am sick. I have heard that I am not alone in this practice, and so in honor of one of the most iconic cult films of the past decade, let’s take a look back at ten life and style lessons this cinematic gem taught all of us.
- 1. Create your own fashion traditions.
- 2. You can indeed wear pumps with minis. Just watch where you’re going.
- 3. When the week is dragging, treat yo self. Shoes, a cocktail, whatever gets you through.
- 4. Wear and be whoever you want, and don’t judge.
- 5. Trust your instincts, always, about people, pants, everything.
- 6. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Also, the military look is not a trend, it’s forever.
- 7. Always wear shoes you can walk in, so you can sub at least one ride with a walk per day. You’ll get exercise and do your best thinking / wardrobe planning.
- 8. Let your freak flag fly always. Not everyone will like it: they’re probably jealous.
- 9. Learn to take a compliment with grace, even if the compliment comes from a less gracious place.
- 10. Don’t ever let them stop you.
