Today I’m sharing a little update to our sons’ Jack and Jill bathroom, which my two boys share. The renovation work was minimal, and I think it goes to show that sometimes a little update is all that is needed to transform a space. I always ask my kids input on how they want their rooms to look, and Bear said he wanted a “blue surf room” so I ran with that theme for the bathroom as well since it is attached to his bedroom.
Here is the bathroom before:
It wasn’t too bad, but the paint had yellowed and the room had a dingy, dark, too-beige feel.
For context, here is my oldest son’s bedroom the bathroom is attached to:
Here are the afters:
Wallpaper: A Street Prints also (here) Stools: Pottery Barn Kids. Lighting fixtures: Shades Of Light. Bathmats: Pottery Barn Kids (on sale!). Drawer pulls: Restoration Hardware. Door hardware: Baldwin. Painting & wallpaper team: Palette Pro.
The biggest change was that we had the existing cabinets sprayed and patched, and had wallpaper installed. I originally found it at Anthropologie, but eventually found it for half the price at Bed Bath and Beyond. It changed the space tremendously and made the walls feel higher. Once the cabinets were patched, I switched out the hardware to something more modern yet kid friendly. I liked the existing sink fixtures, so I chose polished chrome pulls and also these lighting fixtures to match them. The existing countertops and floors remain, and now with the other updates, I’m digging them. I may change them eventually, but I’ll let the boys beat ’em up till then.
