There are five things I really love in these photos: glittered ruby shoes, vintage Chanel, the bateau striped top, Wu Tang, and The East Village. It’s been a tough week in my neighborhood after the explosion and fire on my street that claimed the lives of two of our neighbors, and although it hurts to see the family members they left behind on the news, the wreckage outside my front door and the missing pet flyers, strolling around the East Village and loving it as much as always feels like the best way to head toward healing. Now that I am in my third trimester, I broke out this Hatch Bateau top for this past Saturday’s stroll. I will always love the bateau stripe, and although I haven’t found it necessary to buy maternity tops yet and may never since there are so many non-maternity options, I received this one as a Christmas gift and I am so glad I did. The pockets make it so special, especially for secret bump snugglin’, but I will wear this classic nautical style baby post pregnancy for years to come.

Read this for information on how you can help the victims of the East Village fire.
