Best Consignment Shops in The East Village

Cadillac’s Castle

333 E 9th St, New York, NY 10003 btwn 2nd and 1st aves

My favorite consignment shop is aptly named after the owners’ dog Cadillac. The beautiful gentle soul was a fixture in the store (and a dear friend of my baby girl Bella June) until his last days. He now watches over the shop with a thoughtful gaze from the wall above where his bejeweled collar hangs in memoriam. To this day, I cannot walk on 9th street without Bella protesting to pay a visit to her favorite store (the owners and stylists always give her cookies and kisses). You won’t be able to walk by either, because there is a $25 rack outside the door (weather permitting) on which I’ve obtained a silk Diane Von Furstenberg dress, and the most insane sample Custo Barcelona coat to keep it short. If that doesn’t do it for you, they also have a $5 bin in the back right corner of the shop that’s sure to make you swoon.

Jeffrey Campbell Des Moines Embellished Sandal cropped

The Issa dress and vintage Hermes utility vest finds from Cadillac’s Castle.

Notable scores: a nautical printed silk Issa dress for $60, Lanvin Wedges and Giuseppe Zannotti pumps for $25 each, my favorite vintage Hermes vest for $220…there are far too many hits to list.
